ASNT… Creating a Safer World! ™
Kevin D. Smith has been engaged with American Society for Nondestructive Testing in a variety of roles for his entire career. Through his positions—including serving on the Board as a member and in all the officer positions—he worked to improve the resources available to all NDT professionals (technicians, engineers, and researchers) and to advance ASNT. He has also served ASNT as Council Chair for the Technical & Education and Research Councils, as well as being active in a number of committees. Currently Smith serves on the Business & Finance Committee, where his focus is supporting the growth and financial longevity of ASNT. Enhancing the worldwide influence of ASNT continues to be a focus for Smith, which inspired his active participation in the Asia Pacific Federation for Non Destructive Testing as treasurer.
Smith is currently the Director – Nondestructive Evaluation at Pratt & Whitney, where he leads a staff of engineers and technicians who develop, validate, and deploy nondestructive testing methods for aviation jet engines. He earned a bachelor of science degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Texas at Austin and has spent his career in the NDE profession.
