Lalita Udpa received her Ph.D. in electrical engineering from Colorado State University. After a stint of 11 years at Iowa State University, she is currently a university distinguished professor in the department of electrical and computer engineering at Michigan State University. Udpa works primarily in the broad areas of nondestructive evaluation (NDE), signal processing, and analysis. Her research interests include various aspects of NDE such as development of computational models for NDE, new sensor design, signal and image processing, data fusion, and inverse problem solutions. Udpa is a Lifetime Member of ASNT, an ASNT Fellow (class of 2007), and Fellow of IEEE and the Indian Society of Nondestructive Testing. She is also the first recipient of the Recognition for the Advancement of Women in NDT (2015) and has received several ASNT Faculty Grants and Fellowship Awards. She serves as associate technical editor for Research Techniques in NDE and is an editor of IEEE Transactions on Magnetics.
